David Coughlin, who has authored a similiar book on the early history of Buford Dam and Lake Lanier on the Chattahoochee and Chestatee Rivers entitled “A Storybook Site, The Early History and Construction of Buford Dam”, is conducting research for just such a book on Hartwell Dam. Having completed many years of research for his book on Lake Lanier he knows the importance of historical materials that are still in the possession of the general public packed away in attics, basements, closets, and garages.   It belonged to someone’s parents, grandparents, even great grandparents, or an aunt or uncle or other close relative.  This is the stuff history is made of and is just waiting for someone to tell the story.  If you have historical information, photographs, magazine and newspapers, letters, documents and would like to see it used in a publication on the project’s history now is your chance.
